Big box stores are on the move! While Saks Fifth Avenue begins construction on their Canadian flagship, and Nordstrom opens up their second location and gears up for their first Canadian warehouse sale, Target is trying to make a quick retreat back to the states.
This morning, CBC News reported that Target would be closing sooner than expected. When the news originally broke about Target shutting down all Canadian locations, their expected exit date was May 2015. Now it looks like the American retailer will close all 133 locations as early as mid-April. So far, 17 Canadian Target locations have already shut down, with another six Target locations to close permanently today. There are 23 Target stores slated to close on April 1st and 32 more to close on April 2nd.
