Luckily, Global News recently did a little research and tallied up the cost of basic school supplies, comparing prices between various Canadian retailers. They searched for the lowest online prices of 15 products at Walmart, Future Shop, Canadian Tire and Staples online. The products ranged from pencils and erasers to backpacks and binders. The results did not surprise us. Staples was the cheapest of the four retailers with a total balance of $18.52 – more than $10 less than the total balances at Canadian Tire and Walmart which stood at around $30. Not so surprisingly, Future Shop had the most expensive school supplies, totalling over $50.
